In 2015 myself and Will McKean were fortunate enough to be selected to compete on behalf of Land Rover Experience Westcountry at the first Land Rover Experience Instructors Global Trek Event (LR Trek) held at Eastnor Castle. Following our win (you can read all about it here) we were asked by LRE Westcountry if we could provide a training day for the 2016 competitors, Phil and Neil. Based on our event expierence we had a fairly good idea that 2016 event would be again be a full competition with little rest bite, so Phil and Neil training as planned accordingly, a full on day!

The pictures will give you an insight into what we did, and I don’t really want to give too much away as some of the elements will be carried forward to our Big Outdoors Event in May. We kept Neil and Phil on their toes from the 0900hrs meet all the way through until our 2200hrs finish. We didn’t look to test them on driving ability or instructional capability or vehicle knowledge. They were all a given. We worked on the unexpected element being added to simple tasks, worked them hard both mentally and physically throughout the day and into the night. Their team work, command and control came on leaps and bounds during the day as did their confidence with each other. They certainly went home having learnt a heap of information and very tired (and muddy!)
