Intro to Challenge Event Days
Following on from the success of the Drive Round Days we are running days aimed at introducing drivers and co-drivers to Challenge Events. The days are non-competitive and run at a relaxed pace, they are designed for people who are either looking to enter Challenge Events or just fancy getting out and maximising the use of their vehicle.

The days are either run on an individual (driver/co-driver) or group basis (maximum of 3 vehicles) and are tailored to suit participants requirements. The days provide the perfect opportunity to test out your vehicle and learn how items such as winches and waffles can be used to tackle obstacles. Most importantly they provide the opportunity to develop driver and co-driver interaction, possible benefits being:

  • Enhanced driver and co-driver confidence
  • A better working relationship between the driver and co-driver
  • Improved spotting and winching commands, both verbal and hand

After discussing vehicle scruitineering, you will spend the day exploring tracks that encompass the terrain where punches are likely to be located, the tracks chosen based on what the participants want to achieve. If a punch is found, you can tackle them at your disgression - one aspect of taking part in a Challenge Event is determing whether a punch is worth the effort/time. Before tackling any obstacle or punch you and your co-driver will have time to assess and plan your actions, advice on hand as required. All obstacles and punches are optional and can be bypassed, possibly with some reversing.

During the day you will encounter water, bogs, steep ascents and descents, side slopes - either individually or combined. The following pictures were taken at one of our sites near Wellington in Somerset.

Although all tracks have been driven/winched there is the potential risk of vehicle damage - this can depend on how well the driver and co-driver relationship is working! We hope that we will be able to provide an enjoyable day out and provide valuable experience and that you will go home with the feeling of having accomplished something. You will need to bring your own lunch and we suggest a thermos as well. You may also want to bring your camera and some spare clothing.

Intro to Challenge Event Days are either organised on "as requested" basis or published on the diary page, please note to attend a your vehicle must meet these requirements.
