4x4 Adventures 2010 Winch Challenge Series
The two dayer has come and gone and with only one event left to go for the series it seems as if the Modified and Standard +1 series Trophies may have already been taken. However its still all to play for in the Standard class with several teams in the running.

Previous event reports are available on the reports page page, plus Land Rover World and TOR will have the full reports with sponsors details in their next edition.

We have another round to go which will take place on the 13 November at the Uplowman Site. This will be a SS event.

Sponsorship has already been generously provided by Allisport, Ashcroft Transmissions, Goodwinch, Superpro Europe, and West Mids 4x4 throughout the year. OEC International will be sponsoring the final Round on the 13th.

As 2008 proved (click here to read all about it) you are going to need dedication to the task and vehicle reliability to ensure success! As the 2010 year has unfolded little seems to have changed, those that prepared well and have remained committed have done well to date.

Classes

We will be running 3 classes:

Standard
One aid to traction – such as a winch or axle locker

Standard + 1
Two aids to traction – any combination of winches or axle locking aids not totalling more than two, i.e. two winches or two lockers or one winch and one locker

Modified
More than two aids to traction

NB: The term locker includes anything other than an open differential. Aids to traction also include fiddle brakes and Traction Control systems, ‘Soft’ Lockers and winches. This is a non exclusive list. If in doubt please contact us.

Calculating Scores

Points will be allocated for the overall position achieved at each event for each class. These points will go towards the overall Series.

The position achieved at each event will be calculated on the following basis:

For punches; points will be awarded for punch collection using the Chris Watts scoring method – i.e. the fewer the teams that achieve a punch in their class the more that punch is worth in points.

For Special Stages; points will be awarded for completing the objective of the SS. Those that complete the objective of the SS will also collect bonus points for their time taken. Time bonus points will be allocated as a percentage of the winning SS time. (i.e. if you take twice as long as the winning team you will only get half the total time bonus points for your time).

In the event of a draw for 1st place at any stage the place and prize will go to the quickest competitor on the special stage of that round the draw occurs on. If the Series overall scores result in a draw the place and prize will go to the quickest competitor on the SS of Rd 6.

Prizes & Awards

Trophies will be awarded at each round for 1st place in each class to driver and codriver. Additional prizes may be offered by the company sponsoring that specific round.

On completion of the Series, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 placed teams in each class. There may be further additional prizes.

The running points score will be published on this website.

In order to participate you must register for the Series. Registration costs £35 which includes:

  • A £10 discount off the Series events you enter (excluding 2 day event)
  • Series T-Shirts for the driver and co-driver
  • 2 Series Vehicle number stickers

The first event (and Series launch) on Saturday 6th March 2010 at Wellington.

Dates for the whole Series are on the diary page.

Specific Rules and Regs

In addition to adhering to the standard 4x4 Adventures Winch Challenge Rules and Regulations participants must also adhere to these Series specific ones:

  1. The event is a single vehicle entry. Competitors are NOT permitted to enter to support another competitor. If this is suspected all competitors involved will be disqualified from the series.
  2. You are permitted to enter the events individually without entering the series.
  3. The organisers decision is final.
  4. Any competitor found to be in disrepute of the rules and regulations will be disqualified.
  5. Registration Fees are non-refundable.
  6. In order for your score to count for the series the driver must be registered and in the same series registered vehicle for all events.
  7. Event Fees are non-refundable if you cancel within the two weeks leading upto the event or your vehicle fails scrutineering.

Please note that spaces at these events are limited. If your vehicle fails scrutineering or you do not turn up for an event your entry will not be refunded or carried forward. The sole reason for this is that costs are met and paid in advance of each event for your vehicle.
