Recovery Training Days
Recovery Training Days start with a 09:00am meet at the Waie Inn in Zeal Monochorum. Although the training is conducted at David Bowyers Off Road Centre, the Center is not always the easiest to find, the Waie Inn is well signposted and an ideal meeting point.

From the Waie Inn we move to the offroad centre and start the day with an overview of the recovery equipment we recommend be carried, starting with basic items progressing up to vehicle mounted winch systems. We then start off the practical’s with a self-extraction from deep ruts using firstly a Ladder Jack (Hi-lift), before moving onto self-extraction using ropes. Rear vehicle recovery is a key aspect of the training; most vehicle mounted winches are on the front and more often than not when you get stuck you need to come out the way you went in i.e. backwards! Following on from these we look at vehicle mounted recovery systems and cover several scenarios including self-recovery, dead vehicle recovery, single, and double line and change of direction pulls. As the day progresses we move onto drive assist with the winch and tackle some trickier sections of the course that require both advanced driving skills and winch work. As the day progresses we move onto drive assist with the winch and tackle some trickier sections of the off-road course that require both advanced driving skills and winch work.

Through out the day we focus on safety, all training is conducted at a pace to suit the partipiants needs and experience. Typically we break for lunch after completing rear vehicle recovery however this can vary. Participants can expect the day to finish between 3:30pm and 4:00pm, although timings are flexible to suit.
